Rotational Farming in the Shadow of the Satellite
Every four months, the mountain villages of Northern Thailand must fight a high-tech eye in the sky — hoping only to grow enough rice to fill their bowls.
01 / Life on the hillside
Every dry season, the village prepares its fallow fields for rice. In a fictional zero-burn regime, familiar work becomes a race against surveillance. What you burn, what you protect, and what you leave behind will shape the next season.
Before the first spark
Read the slope and the wind. Cut a firebreak, choose your approach, and put your crew where they can help.
14:00–20:00 in-game
Guide a living fire across the hillside. Shifting wind and rising heat can turn a careful plan into a scramble.
Before the satellite pass
Find hidden heat and douse the last embers. The work is only done when the ground is cool enough to leave.
02 / Before the first spark
Why let a field rest? Why clear a firebreak? A short story about land, a village, and the heat a satellite can see.
Beta 3 opens your first New Game with this story, narration, background music and subtitles. Pause or skip it, then replay it from How to play. The evening scan is a game rule.

Our home is part of this forest. We tend established fields in cycles.
We grow rice for a season, then rest the field for years. Plants return while we farm another plot.
Today we prepare a rice field together. Ash from plant residues returns some nutrients to the soil.
Before lighting, clear leaves and branches to bare soil. The firebreak interrupts fuel between field and forest.
Embers can still fly across. Read the wind. Let your team help watch the forest edge.
The flames are gone. The ash is still hot. Douse the remaining embers.
In this game, the satellite scans each evening. It sees hot spots, but not the lives beneath them.
Prepare the boundary. Control the fire. Cool the embers. Leave enough cooled ash, and no hot spots before the evening scan.
03 / From the beta build
Gameplay sample recorded directly from the development build in Godot 4 on macOS. Demonstrates tactical rotational farming, wind observation, firebreak clearance, controlled ignition, and ember suppression.
04 / The people behind the work
There is more at stake than the next patch of ground. Each member of this fictional community brings a different kind of knowledge.

The farmer
Leads the crew. Balances the burn, the harvest, and the people who depend on both.

The elder
Reads the wind. Years on the hillside become a warning at just the right moment.

The forest guardian
Seeks out hidden embers. A watchful eye and a little water can protect a whole slope.

The granary keeper
Keeps the village fed. Every decision in the field comes home to the granary.
